There is no option on TataSky box sound setting to select DD+ on S/PDIF as preferred audio;;
That option is only available over HDMI

same with Airtel HD
even on Dolby Official site saying that SPDIF can transmit DD with Highest Possible bitrate of 640kbps for More Details please visit

No my yamaha avr supports dd plus and has 4 hdmi inputs, i was talking more on the o/p capabilities of the stb.. I don't keep my ht on always so hdmi goes to tv, while optical out goes to ht. I cant split the hdmi for dd plus

Does your HT not support HDMI pass through? That way, you connect STB to HT as well as HT to TV by HDMI. Even if HT is off, the audio and video will pass through to TV.

Ahh you are talking about standby pass through..nope my avr doesn't support standby passthrough..im cool with dolby digital as well...was just curious so enquired..in fact these days i have relegated my surrounds to storage and use a 2.1/3.1 setup at max..my fronts are enough these days with a centre channel speaker
