Tata Sky to carry Zee Cafe’s HD feed from 21 Nov 2015:
MUMBAI: English entertainment channel Zee Café will make its HD feed available on Tata Sky from 21 November. Zee Café HD, the latest entrant in the company’s HD bouquet called Zee HD League, has already launched on Dish TV. Taj Television, the distribution arm of ZEEL, has priced the channel at Rs 30 for distribution platforms. Zee Café business head Ali Zaidi said, “Over the years, the demand for English entertainment content has grown manifold. Audiences are willing to invest their time and money to watch the best and the latest. According to the FICCI 2015 Report, there are four million HD subscribers accounting for 10 per cent of the total DTH subscribers. The point is that over 15 per cent of the increase in DTH subscribers has been with those opting for HD connections. We have been trendsetters in the industry, and the demand for our shows makes us rule the points table every week. With Zee Café HD, we are now taking this experience a notch higher.” Complementing the launch of the HD feed will be #ThePlaceToBe campaign to reiterate the attributes that make watching Zee Café and Zee Café-HD a must for viewers. The campaign will run across all mediums including outdoor, radio, TV and print. There will be an integrated approach to reach out to viewers. As part of its premiere marathon that started earlier this year with ‘House of Cards 3’, the channel plans to air back-to-back episodes of popular shows. The channel recently aired the complete series of ‘Selfie’ also as a premiere marathon. An upcoming premiere marathon will be the first season of the comedy ‘Young and Hungry’, while there will be many other shows in the near future. The year will end with the exclusive live telecast of international events like Miss World and Miss Universe on Zee Café and Zee Café HD. In 2007, Zee Café had started the concept of airing shows along with the US and currently premieres popular shows like ‘Pretty Little Liars’, ‘The Vampire Dairies’ and ‘The Big Bang Theory’ as part of the same strategy. Zee Café was also the first English entertainment channel to get into original programming, with the English fiction show ‘Bombay Talking’. ‘Look Who’s Talking with Niranjan’, which just concluded its second season, was another such property in the non-fiction space.
