TS wud be biggest gainer if there is only 5-10% difference between them and other dth players after new tariff plans but having understood TS psyche , I wud say TS is working to find out way to extract as more as from subscriber in the name of trai tariff implementation.
Only thing which is playing as usual on their mind is maximising profit revenue and search for oppurtunities by either trying to amend TRAI Order or find some other fix. They are not happy with 20% distribution fee or capacity fee prescribed under new regulation and want to get more share of margin as well as upsell channels in bundles .
If 15% discount cap (discount given after adding a-la-carte price of each channel in bouquet) is also implemented then they will be double unhappy. We will benefit either way as different economical bouquets will be available to us while the cap system will usher more benefits by further crashing of a-la-carte rates.
Gone are the days of Tata Sky entering in a affordable fixed deal with broadcasters and providing channels to us at inflated charges with no attractive option to choose. Last but not the least carriage charges payable to operators are also being heavily restricted.
