MUMBAI: Lifestyle channel Food Network Asia has announced the launch of its U.S. series, The Next Food Network Star, in Asia on 28 July.

The Next Food Network Star is an hour-long reality programme that follows a group of foodie hopefuls competing for the ultimate dream job: his or her own Food Network show. With this prize on the line, finalists test their star power and prove their culinary expertise through a series of complex challenges to impress the judges.

In the U.S, season 6 of The Next Food Network Star recently finished with its highest rated season ever, with nearly 20 million P2+ tuning in to watch the 10-week run, according to NMR (6/6/10-8/15/10); NPower, 6 minute qualifier; P2+ cume – based on Live+SD data.

Food Network Asia has completed one year and airs in Singapore on StarHub (SD channel 433, HD channel 468), in the Philippines via Cignal Digital TV (HD channel 66), in Malaysia through Astro (HD channel 706), and in Taiwan on DishHD (HD channel 376).

Food Network Asia acting GM Hud Woodle said, "We are beyond thrilled with the level of success Food Network Asia has achieved in just its first year. Between the success we have had with our originally commissioned local programs, launches in four significant territories, and the caliber of broadcast partners we have collected, Food Network Asia has proven to be a model to follow for the international roll out of the Food Network brand."
