After roping in Rahul Shivshankar to replace star TV anchor Arnab Goswami, English news channel Times Now has handed the former NewsX editor-in-chief with a show at the 8 pm band.

Hosted by Times Now chief editor Rahul Shivshankar, the 60-minute new show is titled ‘India Upfront with Rahul Shivshankar’.

Airing at 8 pm, Monday to Friday, the show will put the hard facts for the nation to assess.

Through ‘India Upfront’, the news channel aims to bring the focus back on facts to construct the narrative around verifiable information about events that touch people’s lives.

Commenting on the new show, Shivshankar said, “The show fills a massive void at prime time on news channels as most of them have fallen victim to the temptation of putting rhetoric ahead of hard facts, thus compromising on long-held values that separate news from propaganda.”

Recently, Times Network MD and CEO MK Anand stated that the channel will be launching new shows and formats to ease the pressure on its popular show ‘The Newshour’, which was hosted by former chief editor Goswami.

‘India Upfront with Rahul Shivshankar’ is part of the channel’s new programming strategy. The channel also plans to groom multiple anchors to helm different shows, instead of being dependent on one anchor or show.

‘India Upfront with Rahul Shivshankar’ will be followed by ‘The Newshour’, which is now hosted by Navika Kumar and Tina Sharma Tiwari.
