Except Arasu, others are licensed and at least one of them present in all the areas of Chennai. Also, digitization will anyway happen at least after the state elections since it is the target by central government. So analogue will be unused at that time. Considering this, I think, LCO will not invest in analogue.

I heard one of them lost the license and something happened later, may be they retained it... no idea.

Yes, it has to happen any time now or later....

I thought local channels would bare the cost with the revenue they receive from ad's. If local channels wont pay then no one would want them anyways if its a costly one.

FYI, Peppers TV is not a local channel. It is a satellite channel.

Yes, i got it. I thought both Peppers and MK Tv to be some local channels.

We are talking of chennai digitization for atleast last 2-3 years.
Till SCV is there in chennai, CAS won't go away.
MSO, LCO, and Public (90% of people) get benefit of CAS.
Low cost, getting all mandatory channels , no other troubles, hence CAS will be there for next 3-4 years. am sure on that.

CAS already gone away. I met my area LCO this week and asked if I am taking a new connection should I give an additional Rs.100. He said, it is not required since it was only for CAS and it is replaced with DAS. So, SCV is not offering CAS anymore but not sure about JAK who is the only additional MSO who provided CAS earlier.

SCV is already implemented DAS from your end. But still they are not stopping analog since there are many customers not migrated to Set Top Box. If they are stopping analog now, those customers will go to Zing. So, they need to convert them to DAS with the help of LCO.

To do so, they need to give some offers. May be, at least for 1 week, they should provide the STB for free along with one month free Tamil pack. By doing this, they can attract people. Their STB cost is not that much cheaper. So it may also be a reason that the people are hesitating to invest.

Since Chennai people mostly attract with CAs.if mso's ready to give setup box free every 1 will go for it and also with better cheap package and more Tamil, English and sports channels not to exceed more than 150rs to 200rs.

SCV not stopped Analogue itself saying , Still CAS is there in chennai. Not only me, around 80% of chennai people still using SCV CAS only.

If SCV really wants to implement DAS (as it is rule from Central govt. SCV should not think about it's own profit), It can simply stop analogue and ask customers to buy STB.

If SCV wants to remove CAS, it can simply give all pay channels in analogue and ask subscription for Rs. 250 per month. People slowly will migrate to STB as 250 is more cost.

SCV think about it's own profit and dragging the DAS implemention in chennai.

I hoped , SCV will bring Vijay tv to prime band for World cup cricket. It didn't happen. The reason could be vijay tv trp will go up and sun tv trp will down .

@sathish: Continue running analogue is not meaning CAS. CAS should offer the customer an option to select pay channels at Rs.5 per channel. But now, though analog is running, the packaging system and pricing of pay channels are now changed.

In case if the government announced to stop CAS and initiated DAS, then all these MSOs should offer all channels in analog itself. But the government initiated DAS and asked to stop analogue. You can see this happened in other 3 metros.

In my point of view, analog from SCV is still running to stop the people moving to Arasu analog and nothing. They stopped analog on 02-Jan-2013 and many started complaining since not 100% of customers been digitized at that time. Even LCOs were shifted to Arasu for one week. So, SCV feared about this and still continue running analog just to save their customer base.

Say for example, if there is no Arasu or almost 90% of SCV customers been digitized, then SCV will surely stop analog.

@Sathish: I agree this is the Digitization forum and we can discuss these things here. But not in this specific there which is to share the news about the addition of a channel in one cable TV platform and not to start the digitization specific general discussions.
