DAS is a fully digital addressable system whereas CAS is not.

In CAS notified area, the free-to-air (FTA) channels are carried over the network in analog form while the pay channels are carried in encrypted and digitally modulated form for which a STB is required.

While in DAS all the channels (pay as well as FTA) carried over the network are encrypted and digitally modulated and a STB is required for receiving both FTA and pay channels.

So unless the MSO encrypt all channels and move away from analogue its still CAS and never a DAS though the MSO can call it what ever they wish to.

Yes, i too believe CAS will continue as long as unless some hard and attractive promotion on STB is brought in. Looks like some powerful MSO's are more interested in CAS as they can have their preferred channels on the prime slots to have their own internal benefits.

SCV running the analogue , to keep customers not to move other MSOs and DTHs, but how long.
SCV didn't take any action for last 2 years(after jan 1st 2013 incident). It should do something to move people to DAS rather than dragging the Analogue for years..
As it has political power, it's able to drag it to as much as possible, which is getting irritating.
chennai people losing lot of important programs , current world cup is one of them.

Imagine star vijay in prime slot, right from young people to senior citizen will move to vijay tv to watch world cup cricket and what will happen to the top channels afternoon sops, they simply lose a major part of their revenue and the program ad's on vijay tv might pull some more viewers away from the top channels as an after effects.

This wont stop with world cup, say if IPL does the same with tamil commentary then its a long term issue.

Yes, chennai people miss too many valuable programs just because of some $%$#$ people who wants to prevent people from moving to other channels at all costs.

Yes, its too much irritating and i fear that they might drag it indefinitely as they have successfully done it in the past with their friends and partners support.
