USB port in the Set Top Box

Hi,

I just purchased my first Dish TV of my life. And yes it is Videocon D2H.
I have a query.
There is a USB port at the back of the STB. I am guessing what is its use!
Can some one please tell me what is its use?

When any users misses the updation.
After that some features can be missed by them, then they start feeling bad about it.

and they also remove some features in new software which is for their profit, like fta scanning and home channel in starting...
