Normally all indian SD Channels (except somd like EPIC) are in 4:3 ratio bro. Go in the setting of ur STB or TV and change it to 4:3 ratio. You will find the black bars on both side. By default its stretched and we get the stretched 4:3 pic in 16:9 ratio

U r right. At least English news/business channels - which are targeting urban population should broadcast in 16:9 format.
Strangely Government channel RS Tv - Rajyasabha TV broadcasts in 16:9 format.

I dint knew RS TV is in 16:9.
Actually if the broadcasters are not able to convert their channels to HD
atleast they should change it to 16:9 format. The PQ seems great in 16:9 compared to 4:3
Not just this but it's also new to u that..the above snaps r when the aspect ratio of STB was..
It doesn't matter wethr u have setted aspect ratio what on STB specially when dishtv providin the feeds directly from broadcasters in 16:9 as it is,without messin with them..
