MTV Beats will replace indie music channel MTV Indies. The Content of MTV Indies will be on digital platforms.

MTV Beats will replace MTV Indies on air to address a mass audience. MTV Indies will Continue to cater to the indie subculture, now on the digital platform.

MTV Beats will predominantly focus on Bollywood music. The launch date of the channel has not been disclosed.

MTV Beats is targeted at 15–30-year-olds across urban and
rural India. It will be a pay channel. However, it will also be
available on free direct-to-home (DTH) platform Freedish.
Viacom18 recently got the approval of the Ministry of
Information & Broadcasting (MIB) to rename X Zone as MTV Beats. The company has also acquired an additional licence to launch MTV Beats HD.

The company has also acquired an additional licence to launch MTV Beats HD.

Earlier this year, Viacom18 had won a slot on Freedish. It is currently running a channel called X Zone on the pubcaster’s DTH platform.
