It was never Disney star merge. It was Disney fox merge. Disney was never strong in india

Disney and Star never merge/marriage, infact Disney Acquired 21st Century fox which includes Star India pvt. Still Disney India and Star India separately operates Media/syndication business in India. Beside still Disney operates UTV, Bindass, Hungama and Disney kids channels.

If Zee Sony merge needs to happen. Then these are inevitable changes.
Zee TV , zee Marathi and zee Bangla must be kept out of deal. Or Sony sub or other Sony Hindi gec must be sold to other entity or shutdown.
The new merged entity should not hold more than 40% share in any genere post merge.
If these critical aspects are addressed. This deal will get a green signal*.
*Keeping in mind all other aspects are looked into

ZEE and Sony both have seperate fanbase. ZEE is more women oriented programming whereas Sony is more focused on urban audience.

Every party has to represent before cci for any kind of merger, it's nothing exceptional, it doesn't mean merger will cancel
