Direct to Home (DTH) operator Dish TV and d2h have finally signed the revised Reference Interconnect Agreement (RIO) with Viacom18 and implemented the revised ala-carte rates and new bouquets of Viacom18 which had been notified in February.
Dish TV earlier this month revised the prices of Viacom18 channels which had been reduced back in February. News18 channel’s price has been updated from Rs 0.25 to Rs 0.10. Now 2 days back the DTH operator has revised the Viacom18 bouquet prices and added the new bouquets Viacom18 had launched in February. The price of Zee Prime Pack English has been updated from Rs 25 to Rs 15 bringing in much relief for the subscribers.
Earlier this year in February, Viacom18 had revised the ala-carte prices of its News18 channels, MTV Beats, Colors Infinity and Comedy Central. It had also introduced around 30 bouquets of Value Plus, Budget Plus, Budget Plus HD, Value Plus HD, and Family Plus HD variants.
While other DTH operators had updated the prices much earlier Dish TV and d2h have updated the prices much later and become the last operator to do so. Under the New Tariff Order, the DPOs don’t need to mandatorily sign the amended RIOs unless their existing signed RIO expires. Dish TV had earlier in October asked TRAI to cap the number of changes that a broadcaster should be entitled to make in its RIO in a particular time period.
