EMMC spent Rs 19.31 crore in FY 20 to monitor content of various TV channels

Government of India, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting established Electronic Media Monitoring Centre (EMMC) in FY 20 spent the highest expenditure in the last three fiscal years at Rs 19.31 crore. EMMC has the aim to effectively monitor the content of various TV channels beaming over Indian territory.

EMMC has spent around Rs 47.76 crore on various activities in the past three fiscal years. In FY 20 the expenditure stood at Rs 19.31 crore up from Rs 17.58 crore in the preceding year. In FY 18 the expenditure stood at the lowest in the last three fiscal years at Rs 10.57 crore.

EMMC has the technical facility to record and monitor the content of approximately 900 channels with all the currently permitted TV channels by I&B Ministry monitored by EMMC.

EMMC looks out for violation of any programme code, advertisement code, various provisions of Cable Television Network Regulation Act, and any other law relevant to the content of satellite TV channel.
