New Delhi: Flowers TV a Malayalam GEC owned by Suryansh Broadcasting will be turning into a pay channel from 1st October 2019. The channel will be available to the subscribers at Rs 10.

The broadcaster in a public notice said ” General public and beneficiaries are hereby notified by the channel broadcasters Suryansh Broadcasting Public Ltd. that the satellite channel Flowers TV will be available to broadcaster networks and each subscriber @ Rs. 10 from 1 October 2019. The news was first spotted by our member Raju lal.

Suryansh Broadcasting had last year in March notified that Flowers TV would be converted as a pay channel from 01st April 2018 and that the said channel would be offered at a rate of Rs 5.15 per subscriber to distribution platforms. The channel, however, remained FTA for unknown reasons to date. The broadcaster is yet to upload the new Reference Interconnect Offer (RIO) for the new rate as of now. The new regulations mandate that the authority be informed 30 days before any change in the nature of a channel.

Post the implementation of the new tariff order many channels that were FTA in the earlier framework have been converted into pay channels and priced at token amounts for the simple reason that under the new regulatory framework FTA channels cannot be part of a bouquet. Flowers TV is set to be the first FTA channel to convert into a pay channel without a token amount.

Flowers TV in recent BARC Ratings stood at 2nd position in Malayalam channels. Flowers, a 24 hour Malayalam Entertainment channel also has a sister channel Twenty Four News launched by Insight Media City.
