The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) has given its nod to Brahmaputra Tele Productions to launch NL TV with the approval of name change application for its existing TV license. NL TV is the short form of Nagaland TV going by the Trade Mark registry.

The Ministry has renamed Brahmaputra Tele Production’s existing TV license ‘News 11’ to ‘NL TV’. Brahmaputra Tele Production was back in 2010 granted the TV license in the name of ‘DY-365 UP’ which was later renamed to ‘News 11’.

The Ministry has separately updated its database with the renaming of Fun TV license to Shemaroo TV. Shemaroo TV had earlier in May officially launched on DD Free Dish shedding its ‘Fun TV’ name. The date of grant of these permissions is unknown, however the same are like to have happened in recent months.

The database at this point does not reflect any other change. The Ministry had earlier last month granted license to Sky TV which will be a Madhya Pradesh Chhattisgarh focused Hindi News channel. The Ministry has separately cancelled the license of MIX, Sony ESPN, and Sony ESPN HD.
