MHRD to bring DTH channel to hone entrepreneurial skills

The Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD) is planning to launch a new DTH channel that will cater to entrepreneurship and innovation, according to reports. The niche DTH channel which is in the planning stage will be focused on improving the entrepreneurial skills of the youth.

According to a Hindustan Times report, the Union HRD Ministry and education regulator AICTE are planning to introduce the channel soon under the leadership of former Prasar Bharati chief A Surya Prakash.

A high profile nine-member panel headed by him having leading media persons, entrepreneurs, and educationists is reported to have been formed. HT reports that the work will start this week onwards with the channel focused to serve as a platform to the entire country’s youth.

The move notably comes at a time when the HRD Ministry has tied up with Airtel Digital TV and Tata Sky to air its yet to be launched 12 DTH channels that will help students learn from home. The Center has been focusing on using the DTH and Radio means to plug gaps in the online driven education system which cannot be accessed by everyone.
