The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) on Monday in an advisory directed all Multi-System Operators (MSOs) and Cable operators to carry all mandatory Doordarshan channels or face action.

The Ministry noted that it had by the powers conferred by the Cable Television Networks (Regulations) Act, 1995 notified 25 Doordarshan channels and Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha channels that are to be mandatorily carried by the MSOs and cable operators on their cable networks.

The non-carriage of these notified channels is liable for action under the sections of the Cable Act.

The Ministry directed all MSOs and Cable operators to mandatorily carry these channels. It further noted that any violation would attract action as provided in the Cable TV Act and the rules framed thereunder as well as the terms and conditions stipulated in the MSO permission, as the case may be.

Cable customers can complain to Doordarshan at ddpb.inform(at)gmail(dot)com in case their cable operator is not carrying the mandatory Doordarshan channels.
