MIB calls for ensuring continuity of Broadcast and Cable Services

The Ministry and Information Broadcasting (MIB) earlier this month called on for ensuring continuity of broadcast and cable services in view of the COVID-19 outbreak.

The Ministry referred to its earlier order which had notified broadcast and cable services to operate as essential services during the period of containment of the COVID-19 epidemic in the country.

It had also later directed the local administration to ensure operational continuity of print and electronic media with the intent to ensure a constant flow of essential and authentic information through various media is to ensure public order and safety in the current situation of an unprecedented situation.

The Ministry noted that it would be appreciated by all concerned stakeholders that the steady flow of information and keeping the public entertained inside their homes with programs on news, authentic information, and entertainment is of paramount importance.

The Ministry therefore directed all the stakeholders viz Broadcasters, DTH providers, MSOs, LCOs to continue to provide uninterrupted services to their respective subscribers and cooperate with the other players in the distribution chain in the interest of the viewers and larger public safety.
