The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) on New Year’s Day 2021 granted a new satellite TV channel license to Ashirwad Multimedia Private Limited to operate a new channel under the ‘Ashirwad’ branding.
The Ministry granted the TV channel license on 1st January 2021 allowing the Maharashtra based company to start operations of its satellite TV channel. The channel has been granted license under the NON-NEWS category with permission to operate in Hindi, English, Marathi and all other regional languages.

The channel has the permission to both uplink and downlink and will be operating from GSAT-30 through the teleport services of Planetcast Media. The company was incorporated on 28th June 2019 in Maharashtra. The Ministry has in the past as well given nod to other TV licenses named Ashirwad or carrying the Ashirwad brand as prefix all of which are now renamed to other names.
In other news, Chennai headquartered Mantaro Network which runs Tamil News channel ‘News J’ last month got the nod from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) to launch and operate another News channel in the name of ‘News J2’.
