The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) has in the last two months approved more than a dozen name change applications from various broadcasters. Many of the licenses have already been operationalized post the ministry approval.
The 17 name change approvals are of Navtej 24*7, 1 Yes News, CNBC TV18 HD, Filamchi, Free TV India News Gujarat, Zee Biskope, Devdoot, Andy Haryana, Shemaroo Marathibana, Nandighosa TV, Pitaara Movies, Star Sports 3 HD, Sadhna News TV, Star Movies Select, Surya Bhojpuri, Bangla Bharat, and iLove Pen Studios.
Veecon Media’s Tiranga TV/HTN News license has made for Navtej 24*7 which is available on Airtel Digital TV since the last fortnight. Bizz News has made for 1 Yes News. TV18 Broadcast Limited’s CNBC TV18 Prime HD license has been renamed as CNBC TV18 HD.
IN10 Media’s Epic HD license has made way for Filamchi. ITV Network’s Free TV license has been renamed Free TV India News Gujarat. Zee Entertainment’s Ganga Biskope license has been renamed as Zee Biskope.
Ishwar Media’s Ishwar Bhajan license has been renamed as Devdoot. Khushi TV license has made way for Andy Haryana which had been using its license on rent. MR TV license has been renamed as Shemaroo Marathibana which officially launched last month. Odisha News’s license has been renamed as Nandighosa TV. Pitaara’s license has been renamed as Pitaara Movies.
Star Sports 1 Malayalam has made way for Star Sports 3 HD license which is yet to launch. Sadhna Bangla’s license has been renamed as Sadhna News TV. Star World Premiere HD license has made way for Star Movies Select which is also yet to launch. Surya Sagar Entertainment has made way for Surya Bhojpuri.
The final two changes are of iLove Pen Studios replacing Wow and The Nation Plus license being renamed to Bangla Bharat. The name change approvals were granted during the last 3 months between December – February.
