MIB okays launch of Star Kirano SD/HD, Vijay Super HD, Asianet Movies HD, Star Gold Romance, and SS 1 Tamil HD
4 fresh satellite TV channel licenses for Star India granted in July 2021. MIB additionally accorded approval for renaming 2 TV channel licenses in June-July 2021.
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) has greenlighted the launch of Star Kirano, Star Kirano HD, Vijay Super HD, Asianet Movies, HD, Star Gold Romance, and Star Sports 1 Tamil HD. Star India Private Limited and Asianet Star Communications Private Limited have been granted satellite TV channel licenses in the above-mentioned names in the last 60+ days.
MIB last month granted four new satellite TV channel licenses to Star India Private Limited and Asianet Star Communications Private Limited namely Star Kirano, Star Kirano HD, Vijay Super HD, and Asianet Movies HD. All the four TV licenses have the permission to operate in all Indian languages permitted by the Constitution of India namely Tamil, Hindi, English, Assamese, Bengali, Bodo, Dogri, Gujarati, Kannada, Kashmiri, Konkani, Maithili, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Nepali, Oriya, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Santhali, Sindhi, Telugu, and Urdu. MIB granted all the four TV licenses on 19th July 2021 with permission to operate from Asiasat 7.

The Ministry has additionally renamed Star India’s two existing TV licenses to make way for Star Sports 1 Tamil HD and Star Gold Romance. Star India prior to July 2021 was accorded approval for the renaming of the Star World TV license as Star Sports 1 Tamil HD. The Ministry further accorded approval for the renaming of the Star World HD TV license as Star Gold Romance prior to August 2021.
As such Star India has bagged approvals for launching 6 TV channels including 2 Standard Definition and 4 High Definition channels.
In other news the Ministry also greenlighted renaming approval for Suvarna News TV license as Asianet Suvarna News prior to June 2021.
