The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) has recently renamed the satellite TV license of ‘Awakening’ to ‘Public First’. The permitted satellite TV channel database was today updated with the change in name which was likely been approved earlier last month.

The license continues to be held by Graphisad Private Limited which also holds the TV license for P Tunes and P Plus. The license was initially granted in the name of Prerna on 28th June 2017 post which the same was renamed to Awakening.

The license has now been renamed to Public First. The channel went live on GSAT 30 in early August on frequency 4133 H 11888 indicating that the renaming took prior to that.

In other news, the Ministry earlier this month cancelled the license of National Geographic Tamil, National Geographic Telugu, and Fronteir TV.
