The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) yesterday updated its database with the cancellation of three satellite TV channel licenses belonging to National Geographic Network India and Priyamda Media and Infotainment. MIB has cancelled the license of National Geographic Tamil, National Geographic Telugu, and Frontier TV.

The reason for the cancellation of all the three licenses has been tagged as ‘Not Required’. Star India had recently shut down its regional infotainment channels National Geographic Tamil and National Geographic Telugu that were earlier supposed to shut down on 31st January 2020.

The channels which launched last year on June 20 was not distributed on any major distribution platform with Star India later deciding to pull the plug on the channels effective January 31, 2020. The same was however put in freeze due to the NTO 2.0 impasse which was later unfrozen to shut down the channels on 15th August 2020.

The Ministry has separately renamed the licenses of MGK Printings owned ‘All Time’ and ‘Blue’ to ‘Siri Kannada All Time’ and ‘Dhinchaak’ respectively along with the cancellation of license of HBN.
