The Telecom Disputes and Settlement Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) on Thursday directed two Andhra Pradesh based Local Cable Operators (LCOs) to pay up the invoiced amount for the month of April 2020 within three days or face disconnection.
The counsel for Vaji Communications and Vizianagar Citi Communications moved a miscellaneous application for early hearing after GTPL Hathway allegedly threatened to disconnect signals today if the amount of money claimed as arrears till March 2020 was not paid. The council disputed the correctness of the demand.
GTPL stated that the issue of arrears needed to be gone into, although it was not raised in the petition and therefore, the other side would shortly file a reply to the M.A, with particular support to demand the arrears on the basis of accounts and correspondences.
The tribunal gave GTPL the time to file a short reply. GTPL stated that the threatened disconnection would not take place, provided the LCOs pay up the invoiced amount for the month of April 2020.
TDSAT noted that the disconnection of signals would not take place guaranteed that the LCOs would pay up the invoiced amount for the month of April 2020, even under protest within three days from today.
The tribunal directed both parties to come ready with the details available from the accounts maintained during the usual course of business and correspondences so that the issue of areas could be sorted out.
