DTH operator Airtel Digital TV has launched a new pack named ‘All Channel Pack’ for its customers. The 1-month pack is priced at Rs 1675 and carries almost all the pay channels available on its platform.
The pack has 226 channels in it. Network Capacity Fee charged on the pack is Rs 360 with the pack priced at Rs 1315 which takes the total price of the pack to Rs 1675 per month. The pack contains all the SD and HD channels available on its platform except few due to TRAI regulations.
Despite its hefty price, the pack does not contain any SD Channels which have its HD Versions available on Airtel’s platform. As an example, Star Sports 1 is not included as it has Star Sports 1 HD, all thanks to TRAI’s rules on the packaging of bouquets. In case you aren’t aware TRAI’s Tariff regulations bar distributors of television channels from offering bouquets formed from combing pay channels from different broadcasters which contain any free to air channel, both HD and SD variants of the same channel or any channel whose a-la-carte price is higher than 19. The pack also doesn’t contain any of Airtel’s service channels.
The inflated price of the pack shows the misuse of the freedom granted to broadcasters and the failure of new Tariff rules. Airtel Digital TV used to offer Infinity Pack at Rs 5500 annually carrying almost all the SD and channels before the new Tariff rules came into effect. Now the same pack costs almost 4 times the previous rate.

Pack only has pay channels as TRAI regulations bar DPOs from packaging Pay and FTA channel in the same bouquet. Zee Punjab Haryana is there though.
