Effective 1st October onwards Base Warranty for all new activations and Upgrades will be for 1 Year.

Yeah, close call, I was thinking to install after my Airtel validity ends after 6 days, but couldn't wait for HD channels so installed it right away

No, they'll just deduct Rs 10-15 as idle maintenance fee whenever you'll recharge your account.
