I wrote to TRAI on this. Here is the email draft, if you want to reuse.

Hello,

I'm a subscriber of Airtel Digital TV and my Customer ID is xxxxxxxxxx

I chose my pack according to the new TRAI rules, using their Website in mid of March. However, to my surprise, when I checked my account couple of days ago the pack I have chosen was no longer available in my account. Instead, some Airtel curated pack called "Kerala Value Plus SD" was active. All I have done after choosing my pack in mid of March was to recharge my account twice with 500 INR. Other than that, I have neither touched my account nor received any communication from Airtel in this regard. I think this is totally in violation of new TRAI rules and taking away the Customer freedom in choosing their own packs. I have logged into the Website again and have chosen my pack again.

And I'm not the only Customer facing this issue and there are so many other customers with the same issue. Their plans also had automatically been changed by Airtel DTH without any intimation possibly based on a recharge amount. Most of the time, the new plans that Airtel had put them onto, are of higher value (At least more than 100 INR per month) than their chosen plan thus impacting them financially. Please see the below two threads where this issue is extensively being discussed.

Seeking Help - Airtel Changed Plan Based On Recharge In The Name Of UPP

Please help addressing this issue with Airtel DTH and help Customers who may end up losing a lot of money due to this. Thanks in advance.
Do you get replies from TRAI? They have made it clear they are NOT for individual customers. I have never got any help from them, with telcos fleecing me with such random changes trying to loot me. I have managed to get the situation in control, but I want to penalise the telcos. Please let me know the email address to send the above email to. (I have not yet been affected by the issue described in your post).

Although they don't reply individuals, they do take the issue back to the service provider, if they get enough number of complaints. That's why it's important for everyone to raise it with them.

After i did my recharge, i checked My Account on Airtel App and to my shock my plan was automatically changed. I was on MYOP worth Rs. 350/month and after recharge they changed my pack to Value Sport HD+ worth Rs. 495/month.
May know ur recharge denomination u had recharged bro ??

It's really unfortunate that everybody seeing one side of UPP & forgot to see another side of fortune of UPP system 😔😔

Bro, the problem is not with UPP, it's still a good option. As I stated in the other thread, they should find a better way to implement it in the new regime. First thing they should do is differentiate the customers on MyOP and Airtel Bundle. That's the starting point. As you can see, whoever is raising concerns on UPP here are all MyOP users. So Airtel can simply disable UPP for MyOP users and provide an alternate method to them whenever they want to activate UPP. They can continue to use the old method for Airtel Bundle users.

Bro, Still I Haven't Got A Reply From Nodal. On 29th April, I Mailed Them. I Received A Mail In A Few Minutes From Nodal Executive Saying They Are Looking Into This And Will Get Back. 2 Days Ago, I Mailed Them Asking For A Response. Still, No Replies.

It has happened again. I once again forgot its not Rs. 364, went ahead with recharging it, and now my pack has changed again. I'm probably done with airtel now.

You're very well aware about the UPP recharge but still you did it. I hope you've registered a complain with nodal officer & if not then do it right now.
