I have send them an email mentioning the software update failure. They logged a complaint and sent a confirmation that they will contact me in 2 hours. But, they sent me a link for service charges. Here is the link.

It is mentioned that the warranty of ODU spares (Reflector re-alignment, skew, re-connectorization etc) are only 6 months. So I presume that the STB warranty is 12 months (only 6 months completed for me).

What is meant by ODU? And, can some expert confirm whether this software update issue come under service charges???

After I got my software update. Now turn for My verdict on STB Software Update:

1. Software will update around mid-night this time mostly.
2. Even if your STB & TV are off and Red light is flashing, then even it will automatically update your STB. Finally leading STB to turn on and Blue light flashing.
3. NO Start up screen like before (one flashing D2H in purple circle)
4. Yes starting time is reduced to half
5. Channel loading taking same time( HD channels taking more time by 2ms).
6. Another feature Now the channels can be zoomed using STB Remote. (Under Box Setting > Display Settings )
7. Volume level for some channels increased especially Shagun, Big Magic, T24.
8. UI Buttons have been changed to Circle from Curvy Rectangle.
9. Active Service taking around 55-75 seconds for loading.
10. Size of Channel name & EPG bar is reduced horizontally.

Overall rating : 2/5 stars. ( Can be better if provided Dolby Sound via HDMI)

But few members here posted the DD through HDMI is enabled. Are you sure???

I just called the D2H service center in Chennai. They told me, "If you don't have any problem in the current software, better don't go with update now. Many customers are facing problems in this update and our engineers are fed up with the complaint calls from customers. If you want, I can do a manual update using Pen Drive but it will be chargeable of Rs 150. But I prefer to wait till you get the update prompt next time since the update is in Observation mode. Once all the problems are solved, it will be rolled out to all".

So, I asked him to cancel by service request (I don't want to pay Rs.150 for buggy update). I even told him that there are many customers who are having positive feedback this time. But he said, "Yes, but still there are some issues".

So, I am going to wait till next prompt on software update.

May be but for time being it is really good even i am going to activate recording or may be Chennai cc doesn't not get update feature ?
