If news channel not available then approx 10-15 slots are empty and we can expect a new e-auction in mid April or before.

Hope R1 bucket can take the advantage.
It will be best if 2-3 News channels stay in MPEG 2 and rest move to MPEG 4. As we have to see same news from different anchors.

No bro, it will best. But, I don't think big media houses like Aaj Tak, Zee, network 18 etc. are happy to go in mpeg 4. Because they want trp and advt. that only possible in mpeg 2. So, I think this e-auction not get success like other e-auctions. If the issue between news channels and Prasar Bharati is not resolved then about 20 slots may remain vacant.
There are many news channels that available now. That is -
GNT, tv9 ,news24, Zee Hindustan*, Zee news , Aaj Tak, ABP news, republic, news 18, Bharat 24, news nation, India tv, times now, and India news.
* Zee Hindustan may be switched off by brodcaster. So, it will not take part in auction.
And a new news channel "bharat express" may be participated if this issue is over.

For socialist model, you can say that demand is right. but their demand is not in line with free market auction policy. Currently all Genre gets equal treatment and equal opportunity to get slot. But news federation wants that all their news channels should get slot at their desired price.
Suppose govt dedicates 20 slots for 20 news channels,then what is point of auction as everyone is assured slot at base brice itself. Also base price is decided on basis of previous successful auctions. If less news channels participate then base price will come down in next auction. govt should not give in and let this auction continue. If any slot remains vacant, there will always be subsequent auctions

Big four gec are not there now also. But many of their shows are available of ddfd. I dont find any relation between news channel and good content. This tweets appears like lobbying for someone or many.
