Now friends, its the time for Gsat 7. It will launch in 24 August. It carries 4ku and 3c band TPs. Hope that this new satellite will work fine and will get additional space for channels.:lol

Vijay,I wont disagree with you but according to both the sources given below.It shows that GSAT-7 has been planned to be positioned @ 74e and as it carries 4 Ku band TPs which may be used for Direct to Home Services but as no DTH service provider currently present at that position to make use of it,So there is a possiblity that GSAT-7 may be moved to 83E as Tata Sky can grab this oppurtunity because it is very near to 74e.

hmm... may be bcoz their earlier GSAT satellite failed, and Tata Sky was left stranded.... ISRO wants to give atleast 4 Ku band Tps to TS, so that they dont go legal against them. :lol

G Sat7 launch on August @ 83e

In 74* it's a waste, no use of it,
Like earlier it will failed before going to 74*, like Gsat 8, 10.

Ok... found a very recent article... publishes on July 26th. It says GSAT 7 will be deployed @74e slot. :k

Arianespace to launch another Indian satellite in a month - India - DNA
======================================================================

According to officials of the Bangalore-headquartered space agency, GSAT-7 would carry payloads in Ultra High Frequency (UHF), S-band, C-band and Ku-band.

European space consortium Arianespace, which orbited India's advanced weather spacecraft INSAT-3D early today, is getting ready to launch another satellite of the country, GSAT-7, in a month's time.

"As of now, the schedule for launch of GSAT-7 is August 30th early morning", Chairman of Indian Space Research Organisation K Radhakrishnan said here.

"The satellite is already in Kourou (Arianespace's spaceport in French Guiana) and testing is being done. It's a multi-band communication satellite", Radhakrishnan, also Secretary in the Department of Space, said.

According to officials of the Bangalore-headquartered space agency, GSAT-7 would carry payloads in Ultra High Frequency (UHF), S-band, C-band and Ku-band.

The satellite employs the standard 2.5 ton bus platform with the power handling capability of around 2600 Watts and lift off mass of 2,550 kg, they said.

Arianespace, the commercial space transportation company, said the Ariane Flight VA215 will orbit dual-passenger payloads — the Eutelsat 25B/Es’hail-1 and GSAT-7.

After being deployed by Ariane 5 rocket, GSAT-7 will operate from an orbital position of 74 deg. East.
