@RajKumar bro, even I had this question. As ridiculous as it may sound, as to why subtitles are needed of the same language, it's the difficulty to understand the varied accents of this language in our country. I did a quick search and look what I found:

Viewership of sister channel Star Movies saw a 12% increase after the channel started airing subtitled movies.
