Service channel is just a tie up between the DPO & the content provider. The DPO will provide the content of that company/brand/channel on their platform through a channel. Like earlier airtel used to provide Hindi movie library of Zee, SPN & Star on their service channels Movie Mania, Sony Max Super Hitz & Star Gold Hitz respectively. Every DTH is having some service channels. These are not satellite channels so permissions that other TV channels take are not required.

Similarly, government is providing this channel to DTHs to show the work that is done by the ruling government.
