Bad News for bollywood fans, Star/Disney has been focusing more on dubbed south indian cinema and almost all their channels including UTV Movies which earlier under Disney showed classic stuff have increased dubbed quota. Infact on next monday and tuesday almost 80 % of their schedule is devoid of bollywood content.

Really hope that they buy rights of more bollywood films and like Zee have separate chs for bollywood audience. Have no issue with telecast of dubbed cinema but at the same time bollywood viewers should not be sidelined.

There is reason why dubbed south indian cinema is popular and why channels find it lucrative to catch onto it. Firstly we know well that largely new age bollywood has lost the art of making mass based films which had ingredients to attract audience specially from rural base which contributed heavily in viewership, and few movies which r good r largely for urban audience or multiplex janta as we say.

Now chs find it extremely difficult to sustain with fewer good latest bollywood movies bcoz of not only failing to fill slots but high price of satellite rights hence they try to acquire dubbed south indian which comes at lot cheaper cost and attracts rural base. Also southern friends do watch it in large numbers bcoz hindi is understood in max regions and tv density is higher down there.

Some would say then isn't it better to show older bollywood films which has mass appeal rather than dubbed south indian cinema. Well sure this is true but most of the older bollywood films have been seen umpteen no. of times hence do not get as much eyeballs which affects ratings. This is why Sony or Zee have separate chs for it bcoz it serves the purpose properly without affecting performance of flagship chs.

Also it is reality that many people do not appreciate some of the good bollywood films, apart from this chs too do not promote or telecast nice older bollywood films properly thus these get faded off memory. It is important to understand that smart or innovative promotion strategy is needed to bring not only recall or reconnect for movies among audience but in an age of so many entertainment mediums at disposal it makes one stand out thus generating interest

Star was the leader of dubbed segment until 2017,then sony gained momentum and became leader due to Race Gurram and Sarrainodu. Star also lost many movies like the Rajkumar Kohli films, It will soon lose Tseries old library since Sony is giving airtime to Tseries plus Vishesh films is leaving too from Star to sony. At last Star will get YRF, Ajay Devgan Films and Fox star movies. They have a sizeable number of movies to compensate. Maddock Jio will also move to Colors Or Sony depending upon the money which channel gives them more.

Looks like Sony Pal on way out, stopped showing weekend 3 PM movies and from Monday many shows like Partners, Jija Ji Chhat Par Hai etc. taken off air. Hope that Sony launches new hindi movie or music channel in its place.

Also Zee Anmol Cinema airing mostly leftover content which is usually done when channel is in exit mode or contemplating switching to new strategy

Sony Pal is actually still doing good rural market because of CID re runs. So is Zee Anmol Cinema. People ars opting for cheaper movie channels as Ala Carte than those ₹15 and ₹19 ones.

Until channels are priced fairly. Shutting down these channels would be stupid idea.

UTV HD is airing library of Star Movies. Tomorrow they are airing Dawn of the Planet of the Apes tomorrow. I think it's the World Television Premier of the movie in Hindi language.

Well u r right these rerun chs enjoy rural viewership bcoz of them costing very minimal but again after exit from free dish ( which contributes 80% or even more of rural tv audience) things are not jubilant as they were before . Current economic situation has further put advertisers interest down.

All in all they r unable to reach out to desired audience, all these broadcasters jointly decided to leave Free Dish platform hoping that subscribers will migrate to private platforms to continue watching shows but we all knew that wasn't going to happen bcoz of variety of factors.

Currently most of the people getting these chs r ones which have already viewed old shows long back on flagship chs hence dismal ratings of rerun chs is eventually the result. Incase of Zee Anmol Cinema there is further issue as same movies come on other zee chs which r available at just Rs. 1 or less.

I have already said that Star Gold Select will be discontinued, UTV Action HD alongwith Star Gold 2 HD will make way. Already UTV HD is airing mostly Hollywood Movies apart from offbeat bollywood content, soon it will be separated as different chs. I think a classic cinema channel will also come from Disney / Star stable.

Right now Star is also working out rights with studios or producers and for certain films wherein rights r restricted for airing on UTV or Star Channels.. changes r being incorporated in agreement to include both brands. Currently all the old UTV Motion Pictures library owned by Erstwhile Disney cannot be aired on Star Channels bcoz of contract signed. Similar is case for many other movies... All this will be settled soon alongside YRF joining in. Strong possibility of Dharma and some others too moving to Star Family. Post this rebranding will be rolled out
