how to make 6 feet c band dish?

after you bend the ribs to parabola and fixing it to center plate, then you will find that the outer ring of the dish has a circumference of pi x 183cm =574.9cm

574.9/12 = 47.9 cm + 2 cm (rib width, this rib width is for bolting mesh to ribs)

A = 49.9cm

B = 97.72cm(half the linear length)

C = 97.72cm

Form a triangle ABC with the above dimensions that will be panel 1, similarly cut remaining 11 panels

Cut like this, you will save material.

After finishing the ribs, once measure the diameter, and distance between ribs, then confirm it with the calculations and then only cut.

Thanks srinivas33 for detailed info. :k

i got the idea to plot the panels in easy way.after completing structure of ribs and fitting.take newspaper wrap it on ribs and mark it and cut it .then cut panels acording to that piece. simple:)

Yes you can also do it like that, but make sure all the ribs are equally separated radially. Otherwise the panel which fits one set of ribs doesn't fit to the other set of ribs.

To eliminate this problem drill holes accurately using center punch at markings and take it to drilling machine, then the drill bit doesn't move here and there and just goes where you want , or make a pilot hole.

Also make a outer ring with holes at 12 positions equally separated and bolt the ribs to it.

Use High speed steel (HSS) bit to drill steel. There are different types of bits for different applications, for drilling walls use only Masonry bit, etc.

When drilling steel, reduce the drill speed to low, and keep a coolant and lubricant(like WD 40 Buy Wd40 Spray Lubricant Online @ Best Price in India | Wd40 Spray Lubricant nearby and pour or spray it at drilling location, otherwise there will be enormous amount of heat generated and this may damage the bit and reduces the life of bit.

sorry for disturbance but material cost for 6 feet is going around 2600 its so high for me so kindly give parameter for 4 feet its costs around 1000rupee so plz thank in advance

4 feet will not be enough to receive all C band channels, when done on our own. Even 6 ft will not perform well if not done perfectly. I completed 214 cm C band dish yesterday tested it, got only strong transponders of IS 20, Insat 4a, this is because i used iron flat bars(3mm x 18mm x 5000mm) for making ribs, they are bending on their own weight and not maintaining the parabolic curve, but my experiment proved that 2 mm pitch mesh is enough for getting ku band, as i tested ku band and getting it.

Also i didn't use the ring around the ribs, this deteriorated it.

recently shopclues.com listed 5ft and 6ft dish,

Solid 180cm C/Ku Band Dish Antenna - 6FT

Solid 150cm C/Ku Band Dish Antenna - 5FT

Solid 120cm C/Ku Band Dish Antenna - 4FT

thanks for fast reply but in my village people will say me mad if i will make 6 feet antena and it dont catch anything so i decided to make first 4 feet and i am using flat aluminium for ribs

don't forget to add ring around the dish. for 4ft rib will not bend on its own weight i think. Don't get disappointed if it doesn't perform well, learn from it and improve your next dish.
