As part of Intelsat’s 2012 fleet replacement and expansion plans, Intelsat 22 (IS-22) will be launched to serve the Indian Ocean at 72°E, replacing IS-706. The Boeing built satellite will have 48 C-band and 24 Ku-band 36MHz equivalent transponders, in addition to a specialized UHF hosted payload with 25 kHz channels in support of the Australian Defence Force.
IS-22 is yet another example of how Intelsat is helping governments around the world to meet their satellite communications needs on-time and on-budget.
