Mahima Chaudhary back in Bollywood

Remember that wide-eyed girl with the pretty smile who made an inspiring debut with Subhash Ghai's Pardes? Yes, that was Ritu aka Mahima Chaudhary.

After a string of some 30 odd films, some not-so inspiring as the first, she married her brother's friend, Bobby Mukherjee, an architect. And then she disappeared from the limelight. This was back in 2006. Cut to 2011, Mahima is back on the scene. She is currently shooting for debutante director Wilfred Lobo's film Mumbhai. Besides Mahima, the film stars Om Puri, Arya Babbar and Sanjay Kapoor.

The executive producer of the film, Sourav Chakravarthy, confirmed the actress's return to the film world. He said, "The film is based on a true story and every character in the film is real. When we approached Mahima she was very clear that this is not her comeback, as she had never really gone anywhere. It's just that she was not getting interesting characters to play."

Chakravarthy further elaborated, "The film is about an ex-commissioner (Om Puri) whose son was a former Assistant Commissioner of Police After his son dies, Puri finds his diary through which he realises that his son was on a mission. Sanjay Kapoor is a criminal as is Arya Babbar. Mahima plays Sanjay's wife and she helps Om Puri in completing his son's mission. The question is, does our society really allow these criminals to be reformed."
