{Bad News} Director Diphan Passes Away.

Diphan, the popular film-maker who rose to fame with the Prithviraj movie Puthiya Mukham, passed away. The 45-year-old breathed his last at a private hospital in Kochi, where he had been admitted due to kidney-related disease.The cremation will take place at Diphan's hometown Trivandrum, tomorrow. The director is survived by wife Deepa, sons Madhavan and Mahadevan. Diphan is the son of Aanandavalli, the senior dubbing artist.The director made his entry into the film industry as the assistant of director Shaji Kailas. Diphan has assisted Shaji Kailas in several blockbuster movies, including Aaram Thamburan, FIR, Narasimham, Valyettan, etc.

Diphan made his debut as an independent film-maker in 2003, with the Saikumar starring political thriller The King Maker: Leader. The movie failed to make a mark at the box office, and the director took a short break from the films.

The film-maker made a grand comeback in 2009 with the Prithviraj movie Puthiya Mukham, which emerged as a superhit. He teamed up with the young actor once again, for the action thriller Hero, which was an average grosser.Dolphin Bar, the Suresh Gopi-Anoop Menon movie was the last Diphan directorial which hit the theatres. His last dierctorial ventures, the Jayaram starring action thriller Sathya, is all set to be released soon.

Prithviraj starts shooting for the second schedule of 'Vimaanam'.

Prithviraj has a slew of projects lined up this year that has been keeping him busy. The actor is currently shooting for the second schedule of Vimaanam, which is directed by Pradeep M Nair.

The team had earlier finished a schedule in Kochi. The actor plays different stages of life of the film's protagonist, who is a high-school dropout and desi mechanic of sorts. The character aspires to make an aircraft on his own in the movie, which is inspired by speech and hearing impaired Saji Thomas' life.

Meanwhile, Prithviraj also has unfinished schedules of My Story and Adam Joan. Both movies will resume their next portions abroad with Prithviraj next heading to Scotland to finish shooting for Adam Joan and then to Portugal to shoot for My Story in May.

Manju Warrier’s next will be produced by Charlie director Martin Prakkat and actor Joju George.

Manju Warrier's bagging plum projects one after the other; or rather they are coming to her. After being roped in for Mohanlal's villain, the actress will next be seen in Charlie director Martin Prakkat and actor Joju George's upcoming production.

The actress shared the news on her social networking page. "I am excited to work with the young director Martin Prakkat's and Joju's George upcoming production after their superhit movie Charlie. We are also on the lookout for young girls and boys who would be playing the main roles along with me," she wrote, posting a casting call for children between 13 and 15 years.

The actress' upcoming release is C/o Saira Bhanu, which also has Amala Akkineni, Shane Nigam and Niranjana in pivotal roles. The movie is directed by debutant Anthony Sony.

Shine Tom plays a Mattancherry guy again in Parava.

Actor Shine Tom Chacko who played Abu, a goon from Mattancherry in the film Annayum Rasoolum, will once again essay the role of a Mattancherrykkaran in Soubin Shahir's Parava.
Shine is elated to be part of his buddy Soubin's directorial debut. He says, "I play Rauf, a typical Mattanchery guy in his 30s. He doesn't have any similarities with Abu of Annayum Rasoolum but has his own gang and activities. Rauf is someone whom people can easily relate to. He loves kite flying, pigeon rearing and contesting in pigeon flying competitions."

The film will also have Srinda, playing a pivotal role in the movie, while Dulquer Salmaan will be seen in a cameo. On acting with Srinda again, Shine says, "We are good friends in real life. So far we have done three films —Annayum Rasoolum, Masala Republic and Popcorn together."

Shine's other projects include Prethamundu Sookshikkuka and Tiyaan. "I am also working on Kammattipaadam fame Vijayakumar's maiden directorial," he says.

Mohanlal's Villain To Release In 8K.

Mohanlal, the complete actor is joining hands with actor-writer B Unnikrishnan once again, for the upcoming movie Villain. Recently, the team members revealed an interesting factor about the highly anticipated movie.

Interestingly, the team is reportedly planning to release Villain in 8K technology. The crew has been using a special 'Red' camera of 'Weapon Helium 8K' series to shoot the Mohanlal starrer, which is a stylish thriller.

Villain is said to be the first Indian movie to be filmed entirely in the 8K resolution. Manoj Paramahamsa, the popular south Indian cinematographer has been roped in as the DOP of the big budget movie.

Mohanlal and team are currently busy with the first schedule shooting of the movie, in Trivandrum. The team is planning to kickstart the second schedule filming of Villain in Vagamon, on March 20.
Peter Hein, the Pulimurugan fame stunt master is choreographing a major fight sequence featuring Mohanlal in the movie. Stunt Silva will handle the other action sequences of the movie, which is scripted by Unnikrishnan himself.

Manju Warrier essays the female lead opposite Mohanlal in the movie. Villain will also mark the Malayalam debut of popular Tamil actor Vishal, and South Indian actresses Hansika Motwani and Rashi Khanna.

Mammootty's film Puthan Panam's release postponed.

Actor Mammootty's fans have been eagerly awaiting the release of his upcoming films 'The Great Father' and' Puthan Panam'. While The Great Father will soon be out in theatres by the end of March, Ranjith's directorial 'Puthan Panam' will have to wait for a while.

According to reports, the latter's release date, which was earlier scheduled to be on April, has been postponed to May 12. Mammootty will be seen essaying the character of Nityananda Shenoy in the film, which delves deep into the issues of black money.

The actor will apparently try out Kasargode dialect in the movie.

Dulquer Salmaan croons two songs for Amal Neerad's Comrade In America.

Actor Dulquer Salmaan will lend his voice for not one but two songs in his latest movie, Comrade In America (CIA) directed by Amal Neerad.
From its latest poster, Dulquer will sing for the film composed by musician Gopi Sunder with lyrics penned by Rafeeq Ahammed and BK Harinarayanan.

The actor will croon songs "Vaanam Thilathilakkanu..." with Carolina and Mohammed Maqbool Mansoor. While the second song is "Kerala Manninaayi...", which sounds like a tribute to the scenic and rustic feel of the State. He will be supported by playback singers, Vaikom Vijayalakshmi and G Sreeram for the second song.

C/O Saira Banu and Alamara in theatres this week.

This week would see the release of Malayalam movies such as 'C/O Saira Banu' and Alamara. While with C/O Saira Banu, actress Manju Warrier will be seen essaying the role of a post-woman, Alamara will bring the hit jodi of Sunny Wayn and director Midhun Manuel Thomas.
