No need for free, but the 5 Rs per channel can be brought down if MSO and the channels sign up an agreement, Also Sun Tv and all other tamil channels are free channels in chennai and pay channels only outside chennai (i saw this in a press release).

Also they say that they have to give More than 200 channels for Rs. 160 plus tax, but no MSO seems to do this.

Yes'day i talk with my MSO , he told the same (SCV) will continue till this month end. No Change as of now. And from Feb, Crystal STB is needed to view the channels.
My LCO talking about Crystal STB and their package from Sep 2012. So i think crystal and TCCL are not the same. May be they are merging now.

Oh, again delaying it by one more month...when will chennai people have an MSO whom they can truest and can get a STB that can be used atleast for 2 or 3 years?? :angry:angry

Ok, how much is their STB and how much are their packages and do you have a list of channels??

STB cost is Rs. 1500 and he yet to give any package details. Just telling 150 per month + Tax for every month and will have most of the channels include tamil, sports, and english movie channels.

At this price,Rs.1500 you get basic SD DTH box with 3-4months subsc, and for Rs.150 onwards monthly packs, so why to pay TCO's same amount ? DTH is always better - service/quality/business ethics etc.

good comparison.
I didn't told am going to buy the STB from LCO.
Am just waiting for DAS to get start in chennai. There is less visibility for DAS in chennai as of now (because of SCV or Arasu , i don't know).
Even though TCCL comes now, there is no STB in their hands now, so they will provide analog initially and then move to digital slowly (all my guess..:) )

Yes, me too want to wait for as long as possible to watch how the TCCL or any MSO giving good package. I cant pay 1000 and the MSO shuts down and again pay for another MSO like arasu or TCCL or Crystal or Jak... Its better to wait and if the issue still continues then just pay 1500 or 2000 or move to some DTH on a 3 or 6 month subscription and stay peacefully.

Its a fate to stay in TN with all these mess, we can see how other cities are moving to DAS more easier.

Arasu drama complete leaving SCV as the only sole MSO, and now TCCL has come, dont know what Arasu will do to stop it so all goes to SCV as usual.

If Arasu really want to do some good then they can start a new MSO under some private name and stay strong and stable for another 4 or 5 years and give all channels cheap similar to Arasu.

i really don't know one thing.
DAS is getting delayed in chennai because of unavailability of STB . No MSO in chennai have sufficient number of STB to get start DAS in full swing at chennai as of now . That is what petition going on in Madras HC as of now. (HC reject the petition).
But if there is no sufficient STB availability in chennai, how come CAS is implemented here nearly 10 years back. Even though regional channels are FTA, what can MSO do if all or most of people really want to watch Additional Pay channels. Is it fate of chennai not to watch pay channels. i really missed lot of cricket matches (include historic matches) of CAS.
SCV might be one of major culprit behind this drama. Center already withdraw CAS at chennai in 2006 or 2007. SCV got stay order from court to get continue the CAS at chennai
