Yes, to promote their business they stayed CAS in chennai even after all cities got out of it. We lost our freedom around 5 - 6 years to watch the pay channels as per our wish.

8 Years back i remember watching a movies called Bats in HBO, it was a wonderful time, then they brought in this CAS and all freedom were lost. Then the MSO did as per their wish, added and removed channels, cartoon network was there too, but now no pay channels and only their channels. All because of these useless politicians.

Ok, i believe them this time as they have created a new name TCCL. But every time they said the same thing without a name Arasu will come to stop them with some stories and to save the other Monopoly.

Hope atleast this time Arasu doesn't play the same game and comes as a private MSO or supports TCCL and makes them provide a superior quality, more channels for a lower cost.

TCCL will be started on 18th Jan. But who are all LCO will connect to that. My LCO telling we will strict to SCV till this month and from next month moving crystal with digitalization. Am totally confused.

At-least your LCO is taking a bold step, but the entire city is either confused or has brought SCV STB without knowing what will happen next week, or next month or later on.

Imagine people who have more than 1 TV, they pay more than Rs 2000 for STB which they don't own and next week or month or later they will again have to pay other 2000 or 3000 plus Rs for another MSO and some how if Arasu gets a licence after a large fight them again pay for another STB.

This is the fate of chennai.

Please read this
v) Digital Set Top Boxes should be made Universal Cable TV Box, to help the subscriber to use the same box purchased by him while shifting from one area to another. And also in case a particular MSO is not able to provide channels and good service, then the Cable TV Operator can opt for another MSO without having to go through the problem of changing the boxes and putting the subscribers in hardship. So, universal accessible box should be implemented as a rule. Analogue signal should be continued till strict implimentation of universal STBs are made available. All the STBs should be treated on lines of Portability like
in Telecom Sector.

v) Once a box installed at a Subscribers end, then there shall be no claim by any
establishment on the STB by any MSO., as the STB is purchased by the Subscriber.

But SCV doesn't follow them, they wont give you an universal STB, and even if they give you cant use it under another MSO as SCV owns it and we have to return them.

Then why we have TRAI??

Verimatrix´s VCAS is selected by TCCL in India.

Thamizhaga Cable TV Communication (TCCL), newly formed cable MSO in TamilNadu province of India has selected Verimatrix, a multi-network multi-screen digital TV secure solution provider´s Video Content Authority System (VCAS) for their digital TV services. TCCL has plans to digitize the entire state of Tamil Nadu in the next 12 months with Verimatrix´s VCAS to secure and promote subscriber and revenue growth for their digital content offering.

TCCL´s digital cable will be offering 500 digital channels, 200 pay-TV channels and 24 HD channels. Verimatrix´s VCAS for DVB will aid TCCL to deploy unified cardless security solution for live and interactive content delivery through single head-end which will reduce their OPEX and CAPEX during further expansions.

TCCL is the recent client in India for Verimatrix to choose them for their DVB cardless security technology in combination with multi-network platform which enables both multi-screen and hybrid DVB-OTT services. Verimatrix´s other India clients include MSOs ACT Television, UCN Cable Network and Scod18.

Owing to confusions in issuing DAS licenses for the state-owned Arasu cable, the cable operator´s in Tamil Nadu have formed their own forum , TCCL. TCCL is a newly formed MSO in Tamil Nadu which is owned by cable TV operators in the state with close to 500 enrollments. This forum has sold 2,000 to 3,000 STB units in a week in Chennai alone. TCCL has plans to distribute 0.35 million STBs at a cost of USD 24.66 per box. The forum has plans to introduce Internet, IPTV, VOD, online shopping and gaming services along with their cable offering in future.
