NTO is a good rule, just that broadcasters need to adopt it properly and consumers should pay justified amount for diff content. This free culture or everything in lowest cost is not quite good if one wants good content
Good rule only on paper. Philosophical talks doesn't work irl. Most operators are charging ₹130 as NCF where ₹200 was offered for over 200 channels before NTO. We had multiple options. We didn't had to sacrifice anything. Channels like NGC People were discontinued as soon as NTO happened. Nowadays users feels guilty of buying channels and not having time to watch those channel. They feel like wasting money.

I have discussed NTO in detail earlier here in forum, please search and read it to understand reality. NTO is great initiative, just that broadcasters r finding loopholes and trying to implement it in unfriendly way for us. The sentiment u r having is shared by millions but all bcoz facts r misunderstood

I have read everything. How it is good. How everything is more transparent. How we can choose what we want. How we can get rid of channels we don't want. Than went and bought Sony Ten 2 HD, VH1 HD, Comedy Central HD, Colors Infinity HD, Disney International HD, India Today, BBC and CNN. What did I win as a customer here? When I could've got almost all channels for ₹200 before NTO. No customer in their right mind think this is a good idea.

This what TRAI tried to correct apart from other things but this point was struck down by honourable court. Anyways u can still expect lot cheaper bouquet now as discount clause now does not apply

At first they need to bring down price of NCF, period. Problem starts on the service provider fee itself.

Same with me before NTO i was getting most of the HD channels including all sports channels for 300 something now after NTO I'm barely getting 15 paid channels for the same price:(
Normally I would buy all Infotainment channel. For getting proper English feed I switched from cable to Tata Sky. Nowadays I stopped buying feeling guilty wasting money for TV as I can watch same for free or minimal cost on Sony Liv and Discovery+.
