all the press notice bla bla are nothing. there is no support for arasu from center and the LCO, NO MSO can survive without LCO's support. thats the reason they are not able to enter.

If they increase monthly price from present Rs70 to Rs(100-120) with 100+ channels (Pay+FTA) in analog, definitely they can start dominate Chennai & TN..
It will satisfy LCOs too..
At present most of LCO's are charging Rs100 instead of Rs70.
So I don't mind paying extra Rs10 or 20 (Rs110 or 120) for good service & more pay channels to Arasu Analog.

you dont mind, even any of the subscribers dont mind paying more. LCO's are in soup if they move to arasu, what will they answer to all their customers who already bought SCV STB thorough the LCO? They will have to answer them, either arasu gives free stb so that LCO can replace the existing scv stb with arasu else they will loose all the customers who are with them with STB. its a tough situation right now for arasu to enter here till they have an agreement with the LCO. The analog cable business is a unorganised business, the MSO's dont have any cout of how many analog connections are given through LCO( all they have is a approx figure). The LCO can add as much splitter as they can with some amps and distribute signals without the knowledge of MSO. Actually speaking SCV is very liberal with LCO's in terms of number of connections the LCO are holding.. if the same kind of support they get from arasu they will move. for the same scv base pack which is 139 Plus tax few LCO are charging 150Rs few LCO charge 135Rs few are 170Rs few 180Rs indeed i have a friend who is paying Rs150 for a platinum pack ( which is Rs299 plus tax!!) so the exact price what the LCO are paying to scv is unknown. The LCO are making big money with this business they are indeed scared if the revenue would be the same after arasu comes. ( arasu might benefit ppl but not LCOs thats the reason they are finding tough to enter here)

Well said.. very useful info about the present scenario..
At the same time, apart from Arasu & SCV, third MSO wont be responded by LCOs..
Those MSO will be more stricter than Arasu & SCV.
My LCO asking the exact price as mentioned by SCV if I go for STB..:(
But one thing is sure.. Whichever political party may comes to power after 2016, they wont stop Arasu (and SCV too)..
Don't know how long this game continues to achieve digitization..
TN is the only state in nation cursed with analog feed...:wall:wall:wall

RE: Pay channels blacked out in Arasu cable TV

Thiruvallur district cable operators meet on tomorrow.

Hope their rift with Arasu comes to an end ASAP..

Source: A Local private channel in TRL.:dodgy

No improvement even after 29 days..:angry :angry

Apart from tamil regional channels, most of sports, english pay channels are still blacked out in Vellore, Thiruvallur districts because of LCOs unpaid dues to Arasu cable..

But the sufferer is Public not LCOs...:wall:wall:wall

LCO's want subscription to be increased to Rs 120 so post Arasu's Rs 20 deduction LCO's will get Rs 100.
Looks like the LCO and Arasu issue will not get resolved that easily.

If Arasu wants to resolve the impossible issues then it has to do the impossible.

Ensure level-playing field, cable operators tell Arasu

Cable TV operators affiliated to the State government-run Arasu Cable TV network have requested the multi-system operator (MSO) to ensure any region under its control has no more than a single local cable TV operator.

In a memorandum to the MSO, representatives of Federation of Cable TV Operators of Tamilnadu, a collective of cable operator associations in the State, said there were some areas within the State where there were some new entrants with Arasu Cable TV signals, competing in the same areas they were already present.

The cable operators pointed out that Arasu Cable was launched with an intention of ending private MSO monopoly, and several local cable operators, who had invested heavily in last-mile infrastructure, had moved to the set-up to bolster the government-run business.

When contacted, senior Arasu Cable TV officials said it was an unlikely scenario that two people were vying for subscribers with their signals but said such complaints would not be ignored.

In recent times, Arasu Cable TV has started tightening the screws on local cable TV operators who under-declare connections while making payments. The MSO had issued notices to operators demanding long-pending fees.

At the meeting, the cable operators offered to pay the dues for whatever number of connections they had originally declared at the time of subscribing to Arasu Cable TV’s MSO feed.

Another long-pending demand of cable TV operators was that Arasu Cable revise its monthly tariff from the current Rs. 70 to at least Rs. 137, which is the TRAI-prescribed minimum tariff for a bouquet of channels, including the free-to-air channels.

Arasu Cable TV is now the biggest MSO in the State providing analogue signals in all major cities and towns.

Operators have also asked for revision of monthly tariff from Rs. 70 to at least Rs. 137.

Arasu can increase the monthly tariff from Rs 70 - Rs 100 and give an additional Rs 10 to LCO's per connection per month and use the additional Rs 20 for better infrastructure like laying underground major cables by MSO for cable and Internet (connecting large areas.... LCO's can still use lamp posts for the time being).

Basic tariff more than Rs 100 will hurt the common man pretty bad.

When the entire state was paying Rs 100 per month for a different MSO why cant they settle with the same price and why they want a higher one from Arasu?

Arasu can have Rs 100 Basic, Rs 25 Addon for All Tamil, Eng, Sports and News and Rs 50 - 75 Addon for a complete pack with all Channels from All languages and for Commercial use like Large Shops and Hotels.

Already 90% of LCOs in TN charging Rs.100/- instead of Rs.70.
So LCOs will convinced only if people pay Rs.120 atleast.

If they ask Rs.120+, I'd go for DTHs. :angry

I don't mind paying Rs.130 also if they provide 100-105 channels in good quality..

95% LCOs don't showing UHF band channels clearly where major pay channels(sports & english genres) are placed by Arasu..:angry:angry

Firstly LCOs should rectify their problems & enhance their quality before asking for price hike...:wall

Yes, with better quality and even last channel viewability (atleast upto 90 Channels with decent picture) from Arasu i don't mind paying additional to LCO even for an analogue connection.
