MUMBAI: Starting June, Viacom18’s free-to-air (FTA) channel Rishtey will have a mix of finite fiction shows in their programming line-up from across the border.
Further adding to the entertainment quotient over the weekends in June, Rishtey plans to showcase four world TV premieres from its movie studio Viacom18 Motion Pictures.
The mass Hindi entertainment channel, which launched towards the end of 2013 and engaged viewers with content from its sister channel Colors, will now add some fresh content to extend their programming line-up.
Weekdays on the channel will feature new shows from across the border at 10 pm, while weekends will see the movie premieres.
Rishtey currently features shows from Colors like ‘Udann’, ‘Madhubala’, ‘Sasural Simar Ka’ and ‘Meri Aashiqui Tum Se Hi’.
From 1 June, Rishtey will air a new Pakistani finite series ‘Asmano Pe Likha’ every Monday to Friday at 10 pm.
A romantic saga, ‘Asmano Pe Likha’, is about the union of two strangers Aliaan and Qudsia who get married by chance.
In July, the show will be replaced by another social drama ‘Ranjish Hi Sahi’, a story of a widowed mother who yearns for affection and support while raising her children amidst acute financial crisis.
Weekends too will get more action-packed as the Rohit Shetty-starrer ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi: Darr Ka Blockbuster’ takes over TV screens starting 13 June at 9 pm every Saturday and Sunday.
Rishtey will also premiere movies like ‘Dharam Sankat Mein’, ‘Saheb Biwi aur Gangster Returns’, ‘Bombay Talkies’ and ‘One by Two’.
Colors and Rishtey CEO Raj Nayak said, “Upping the ante on quality content on Rishtey is a strategic move to make the channel an engaging watch for our audience. This will be an interesting offering for not only the viewer who has a wider choice now, but also serve as an attractive proposition for advertisers and marketers who want to reach their consumers in the heart of India. Going forward, we will endeavour to push the envelope further by bringing in newer content into Rishtey, as we go along further developing the channel and its offerings.”
‘Dharam Sankat Mein’ will premiere on 31 May at 6 pm and 9 pm, ‘Saheb Biwi aur Gangster Returns’ on 7 June at 6 pm and 9 pm, ‘Bombay Talkies’ on 14 June at 1 pm and 6 pm, while ‘One by Two’ will premiere on 21 June at 1 pm and 5:30 pm.
Meanwhile, special afternoon movie festivals on weekdays will also liven up the programming offering. Some of these include an Akshay Kumar movie festival featuring the actor’s best works such as ‘Special 26′, ‘Oh My God’, ‘Boss’, etc.
This will be followed by an action movie fest.
