No not because of ending, It was because of EXTRAORDINARY SCRIPT Which even an IAS Officer won't be able to understand . Karan Johar had gone nuts. Believe me I was watching it in theatre . There were around 200 people during its start , by interval it reduced to 70-80 and by Climax just 10 . Such a masterpiece was it.


It only worked because of its chartbuster songs especially Channa Mereya, Title track and Bulleya . Also Breakup Song.

How many people watched Manmaziyan or praised it? Indians have mindsets of happy endings of everything. This is why movies like these are not appreciate. Imagine in Sholay what if Gabbar Singh killed one of the guy and movie end there. Makers planning to have a part 2 here. People would've vandalised the movie theatres. Sholay flopped before they had to reshoot and re-release it here for a different reason. Because people felt sorry for one character.
