It is a satellite friendly film though broadcaster needs to build an audience base for such movies. As things stands right now, star/disney has strong bollywood audience base for each type of movies.... Maybe u can exclude classic bollywood films where still Zee Classic is the leader with a loyal viewer base but surely star/disney will improve on this soon , already u can see them airing many popular classic bollywood films on their chs and soon a new channel might b launched for it. Star/disney also has sizeable audience base for dubbed hollywood films where other competitors lack far behind, more so star/disney is only one having exclusive channel for it

Star/disney manages to get good ratings even for an average or even flop/poor bollywood movies bcoz they r good at acquiring , promoting, scheduling bollywood films and their bollywood audience base always tunes into the channel. Zee, Sony or even Viacom18 with their major focus on dubbed south indian movies or repetition of few bollywood films, not so good scheduling have rather alienated bollywood audience from their chs hence even big/good bollywood films rather than not perform that well (as compared to star/disney) on their chs, this can b seen in ratings published for various bollywood films in the past. Not only that but star/disney gets very good ratings for consecutive repeat airings of bollywood films but i feel sony, zee, viacom18 do not manage to get same success (based on weely BARC ratings when it gave us weeky top 5 chs/program data for each genre), we can also notice thru scheduling that after initial 3 or 4 airings star/disney still shows these new films at key slots while on zee or viacom18 these new bollywood films either get aired on random slots or get repeated often... Sony has fewer films and still schedules them better but dependency on dubbed south indian movies means collectively bollywood films have not been able to deliver great ratings for them (in comparison to star/disney).

Viacom18 and Sony r improving and i am sure as Colors Cineplex Bollywood , Colors Cineplex Superhits gets proper distrubution .... Sony gets access to more bollywood films thru merger or acquiring them and as dubbed south indian movies rights expire then bollywood films will take centerstage on their chs. Zee is doing a good job with Zee Classic and And Xplor but needs to distribute latter properly.... On other chs they need stop repeating 40 or 50 odd bollywood films, utilise bollywood film library well, improve audio/video quality of its SD Movie chs and drastically reduce dubbed south indian movies then it will manage to compete with star/disney. Zee Cinema HD airs more bollywood films but again scheduling and kind of films aired r not that attractive
Zee cinema HD keeps repeating same movies throughout the month and also there is no strategy planned on scheduling. I’ve seen them scheduling movies like SRK starrer DON in late night hrs or early morning hrs. Really feel bad that platform is not using their amazing bollywood library.

True buddy . Zee needs to drastically improve on scheduling as well as utlising bollywood movies library properly. I have no doubt in saying that zee has excellent and vast bollywood movies in its catalogue but sadly many films r not being given key slots on its chs, many movies r lying idle while 40 or 50 movies r on repeat mode. If zee manages bollywood film library well, it can within short time give tough competition to star/disney interms of popularity of chs and high ratings.

I can list out so many films which sony, zee and viacom18 have but they r not being given adequate or correct airing across their chs. This includes both mainstream and offbeat/critically acclaimed films. Though some of these get aired on HD chs of zee / viacom18 but movies like Don (2006), Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa, Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar but these should b aired also on SD chs. Incase of sony many good movies just in watershed hrs on their SD or HD chs

I just hope some senior official from these broadcasters or channel head of these hindi movie chs read comments we post in the forum regarding their chs, take note of feedback and work on improving content strategy or other things

MY NAME IS KHAN has been removed from Disney-Star soon will be moving to viacom18 along with WAKE UP SID and I HATE LUV STORYS.
My Name Is Khan Co-Produced by Fox Star Studios

I Hate Luv Stories Co-Produced by UTV

Wake Up Sid moved to SGS through UTV

I don't think any of these will shift from Disney-Star

My Name is Khan is the one and only film directed by Karan Johar that isn’t with Viacom. It seems Star/Fox bought the rights of the film for 15 years which may be why it isn’t moving from Star.
Really wanted it to move to Viacom18. All other Karan Johar movies and many SRK movies are on Viacom18. It looks very strange being the only Karan Johar-directed movie on Disney-Star (particularly Star Gold Select) when KANK, K3G, etc. are with Viacom18. :cf2: Is it some special arrangement with Fox Star Studios (the co-producer of the movie) because of which it is not moving from Disney-Star?
Yeah even My Name is Khan co producer 20th century/Star Acquired worldwide exclusive rights period of 15 years too expiring soon

Well i do not think these will shift. Reasons r as follows -
1 - Rights of these films r held by UTV /Fox Star as these r co produced by them
2 - Even if Dharma Productions gets back rights of these films then too It is likely that soon Dharma Production will enter agreement with star/disney and these films alongwith other remaining films will b renewed by star/disney

Only if Dharma Productions gets back rights of these films and has future agreement with other broadcasters then these will films will exit star/disney.

Last year too My Name Is Khan was removed from disney+hotstar but was eventually readded back on the platform. This was same time when SRK - Hotstar ads were on air and speculation was ongoing that many SRK films r set to arrive on the platform. Same thing is happening right now and i guess this time it will b implemented
