How did viacom18 get Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 as i believe they have never had agreement with Deol's film production company or Soham Rockstar Entertainment or Pen India. Did they get it thru eros?

Yamla pagla deewana 2 was shared between viacom18 and utv movies now the movie airing in viacom18 is rare I think soon it will be moved zee-sony or Disney-Star.

Well i do not think these will shift. Reasons r as follows -
1 - Rights of these films r held by UTV /Fox Star as these r co produced by them
2 - Even if Dharma Productions gets back rights of these films then too It is likely that soon Dharma Production will enter agreement with star/disney and these films alongwith other remaining films will b renewed by star/disney

Only if Dharma Productions gets back rights of these films and has future agreement with other broadcasters then these will films will exit star/disney.

Last year too My Name Is Khan was removed from disney+hotstar but was eventually readded back on the platform. This was same time when SRK - Hotstar ads were on air and speculation was ongoing that many SRK films r set to arrive on the platform. Same thing is happening right now and i guess this time it will b implemented

Sharing was bcoz earlier UTV Movies and Viacom18 network had movie sharing agreement. Zee might renew it if this is with Eros or incase star/disney signs deal with eros then it will shift to their chs

Bcoz SRK owns rights of Chennai Express and all other Red Chillies, Cineyug - Eagle and Madras Talkies films. Also SRK buys rights of many films in which he acts, this being Red Chillies co production he would have surely acquired rights or maybe agreement with UTV was such that satellite/digital rights were reserved with SRK hence Chennai Express went to zee as they have movie acquisition pact with him. Swades rights were with UTV for many years but in 2015 or 2016 SRK even acquired this.

Most of the UTV produced or co produced films have had select / proper airings on UTV Movies including Swades (pre 2015) but chennai express never aired on UTV Movies bcoz of above reason. In 2012 to 2014 period, UTV Movies acquired rights of all old home production films and these films had full fledged airing, now too all these films r with star / disney .... Star India had rights of these films before that in 2000s up until 2012. All the post 2012 UTV produced films films r with sony/zee and gradually shifting to star/disney

Most probably renewed thru Cinekorn Entertainment, sony even acquired dubbed films like Ashwamedham, Seeru and Jodi from them in last few weeks
