No. Sony always seeks to acquire assets and expand their empire. They will not go for any merger or won't let any others to interfere in the company (Sony Corp). Even this SPN TV18 alliance will not lose anything from Sony.

I think Sony has already got clearance from ViacomCBS. Cause last week ViacomCBS announced some show deals. Might be they would have also discussed about it

ViacomCBS has 49% stake in viacom18. Also has given 10years brand rights to network 18 starting from 2018

That's what Sony is exploring in buying TV18 which is owned by Reliance. I don't know why people are thinking ViacomCBS is merging with Sony and its a trail ground for merging globally!?
