So I have a question. Did Punit Goenka actually siphon off funds for his own benefit? If so, why was Zee adamant that Punit Goenka remain the CEO?

Zee founder Subhash Chandra and his son Punit Goenka used an intricate web of entities to fake recovery of loans and siphoned off funds "for their own benefit", markets regulator Securities And Exchange Board Of India (SEBI) has alleged.

I think now disney reliance deal will be off and reliance will take over zee.

Why? Star is still a private company so they'll have less legal hindrance. They also have monopoly in multiple markets. Reliance would anyway prefer to merge with them.

No RIL prefers star over zee
Reasons:
1. No to zero competition
2. Star is actually positive in net income
3. Cash flow
4. Disney

Sony would have never allowed the merger if Zee didn't fully hand over the operations, Sony follows Japanese guidelines for mergers and purchases and that includes complete takeovers, if Zee didn't want to bend over to Sony, the Japanese financial regulator would never allowed the merger.
Sony doesn't lose anything by stepping aside Zee because they can just do it on their own.

If Sony follows stricter rules for Zee merger, then why Sony signed agreement with Zee's Punit as CEO for 5 years of merged entity in 2021?
