The company did not disclose the price of STAR Sports 2 but industry observers said it could have a premium pricing. As of now the company charges Rs 29 a month each for its Star Sports and ESPN channels and Rs 30 for Star Cricket.

"For a one year contract, ESPN STAR is asking between Rs 40 crore and Rs 50 crore for the new channel," an executive working with a leading direct to home operator said.

Simply they want money.They can't certainly do a steep hike in subscription fees for the current channels due to trai rules.So they choose a backend path to increase revenues.Launched a new channel.So that they can get atleast 20-30rs. more per subscriber.
If they want to show more european football,they can telecast it on star cricket and star crickethd.
If they want to provide 20 language feed,that is non-of our business.But why should we pay for their language feed?
This is cheating from star group.
Some expert says,subscription price in india is very low in comparision to other countries.They should first think about customer base of india.It is atleast 10times more than any other countries.

They will show in star cricket & hd.Usually european footaball mathes are played in weekends.
But it is cheating to launch a new channel for showing hindi cricket feed on
star sports.
