Breaking Sun TV plans to convert Sun Life as second Tamil GEC from 7th October

No, ETV PLUS is second Gec mainly focused on comedy & youth shows. They are telecasing original content unlike some rerun channels.We can't compare sun network comedy channels as they are running channels with Comedy clips from Movies.

In other words, ETV Plus is like Sony Sab.

Its a good decision by Sun to start 2nd GEC in this period itself but the big question is whether they will capture the viewer base from star and zee or not. Its fiction or non fiction viewers looking for innovation, for example colors tamil capture top-5 spot(not in recent weeks) within the launch of few months,they have unique and strong concepts for their serials. which is lagging with other channels especially star vijay and sun tv. i dont know who hold the rights for next sason of bigg boss if it is bagged by colors it will be capture top-5 spot repetitive.

Drawing a parallel between the success story of 90s and the contemporary time is really absurd. People have to understand that tamil market is no longer Monopoly. Sun tv is losing it's market share. When zee and colors launched their second gecs in Marathi and Kannada respectively, they cemented their maket share which is not happening here in Tamil. Zee and star have grown in multiple folds, but sun isn't doing anything to strengthen it's main gec. With launching a second get which is placed as a youth channel with no youth in it's presentation and logo, sun will lose the race. It's cramming it's responsible work with launching further channels in new market as well. It's not a good sign. They are dreaming without a strong basement. It will lead to the collapse of sun in Tamil market. Zee and sun will outplay sun in Tamil market in few years. It's all set !

Monopoly existed till few years back but only in the Sense Sun Network itself owned & distributed channels but things changed very drastically when multiple players entered into distribution platform.

Sun TV losing market share very minimally and other popular networks like Zee and Star couldn't rise drastically and unseat Sun Tv like other regions is due to strong tamil flavoured other Network channels upto very bottom of the table.

For example not very popular Tamilan Tv,MK Tv,Mega Tv,Vasanth Tv has some real viewership & content and moving little bit up Raj Tv,Kalaignar Tv,Jaya Tv & Polimer Tv too developed a strong base and one cannot exactly tell these channels will be a mute spectator and remains at a null Ratings.

So Star & Zee should improve a lot and suit the tamil flavour and the competition here in Tamil going to multi faceted and real and not like 2 or 3 fighting for top spot.

For very few people they can't put a movie repeatedly.They have very few new movies so adjusting with old movies. Shortage of movies they show serials.if they have library why can't put movies on Saturday.funny

To bring Sun Tv down from No.1 new Sun life should get the TRP of K TV ie New Sun Life should get 2 to 3 times more TRP than old Sun Life, it can get I'm sure but how many weeks it would take from launch and when it crosses K TV where its going to settle at 4 or it will go much more higher and aim at No.2 many more questions like this will be there but at Tamil Top 5 list 3 Sun Network Channels will be there consistently.
