In future of dth not only survival comes...
Even space issues among lcns & tps, more & more upcoming channels, etc. many of them.
Now it's 4 digit lcn.
After a decade it'll be 5 digit:sleepy2:

DTH will survive unless Trai decides to implement their new policies which only works towards destroying DTH & cable.

I have created this thread to know your guys opinion about the futuristic world of dth on TV in coming 5-10 years, with the massive and booming growth of internet technology, ott and incoming 5G in India ,how players such as Tata sky ,Airtel digital TV and d2h ,dish TV like big dth brands would be able to surve. Are these dth brands would have a same fate as dth companies in developed countries such such as America direct TV dth or an another scenario?Indian dth market is collapsing with the advancement in internet.Pls give your suggestion in this thread,if you would be the owner of these dth brands of India then how you would be able save these companies in coming year in the time of technological era.
onething for sure, even after more than 50years,People still latch to DD channels, only mediumgot chnge from analog antenna to dvb-s2 satellite.

so DTH,specifically liner TV wont die atlest in india and developed countries like us, uk,japan, china.

100% agree.

but
DTH will survive unless Trai decides to implement their new policies which only works towards destroying DTH & cable.
behindthe scene, TRAI,or any regulator in any country is just consolidated view of all player in market, with higher weightage to bigger party.

why does tata, airtel or d2h/dish tv will allow something to destroy existing market and investmet made thereto

Only survive Dd Free Dish

Cable TV will survive and Mukesh Ambani knows that very well that's why he choosen Cable TV over DTH business. Because, Cable can make his Fiber Internet reach to your house as well. But, Tata Sky found their own way before but eventually they become Vi of Broadband expensive plan.

Sir I am sorry to say here that dth business will not end at about 20 years or more. The reason behind it that in rural area , you are talking about 5 g however most areas are have not an capacity of 2g. So it is not possible in india at least two decades or more.

If satellite internet comes it will outdoor units to receive internet & that is some dish 📡 like unit.So if dths also provide satellite internet along with existing services they'll survive.
Only some necessary changes to be made as per requirements
The dish antenna used by DTH operators and the one used for satellite internet are very different. The DTH dish antenna is stationary since it receives signal from a single DTH satellite is located in the Geostationary orbit which is very high up in the Earth's atmosphere and thus this angle of signals remains constant. And it is not feasible to have internet connectivity from this DTH satellite as the latency would be too high due to the distance between the satellite and the ground station and the end user's dish antenna.
With satellite internet we have an entire constellation of low earth orbit (LEO) satellites (at much lower altitudes in the Earth's atmosphere) which are constantly in motion and keep crisscrossing across the globe and the signal from one satellite gets weaker as it moves away and hands over to the next approaching satellite. Though the operator will try to ensure that at any given time the dish antenna has a clear view of at least 2 of these satellites, at times this may not be possible and the dish may need to move in order to track the movement of the moving satellites using inbuilt motors in the dish antenna.
So for a DTH operator it is not a natural upgrade to just include satellite internet as an adjunct to its existing offering using it's existing infrastructure.
